attention to all

stephanie, yi shiuan and kar yaw are having meeting in front of the counter
kar yaw'S right hand is touching his right head, for like 5 mins, now he is looking at stephanie's reference book ahhhhhhh now he stand up, i can see that he wanna eat her ad!!!

yi shiuan macam nobita, noob here and there, looking at our math's dept only girl... haha now pak pak SAM HAO then use his right hand to express his feeling...besides that he use his big nobita mouth, chewing his delicious little cheese bread and imitating PING hui innocent look to LIANG jie, (ping hui's look : " teng ~~~~ while teng-ing he open up his big little eyes and use his little ah muk lips, smile like a joker.)

stephanie is having meeting with 2 other juniors and can u imagine she is wearing "a extra large contact-lense, sized up to around 2mm from the normal iris radius, hard to describe phew~ phew~ all blue should work solo!!! hahahahaha

Correction for Form5 exercise

I din realise Quadratic Expression & Equation question 5 missing. The question is this:

Solve the equation:

3/(x+1) + 3/(x-1) = 4 (If cant understand copy and paste to MS words, insert this to equation, right click professional to see how it looks like.

give the students 1 week deadline to finish ba. i think. so next week if they show u the complete exercise we give them some reward. xD (LJ what reward we can give?)

this is a post that related to what did i teach for monday and tuesday! xD

for the form 1 classes..
i teach them new chapter..
deng deng deng...is about CHAPTER 7: Algebraic Expressions

first i told that this chapter is all about unknowns...do u know what is unknowns? xD
the pokemon one leh...is dont know just told them a-z
haha..then start teach them about the term...
example is 3x
3x is a term..
and 3x can divide into two things
that is coefficient and unknowns
therefore 3 is the coefficient and the x is the unknowns..
(for sure the students will ask you what is coefficient..then u told them is all about number! xD)
after that...
i give some terms and ask them to find out coefficient and the unknowns
(they for sure dont know a is actually in front is 1a o) so do on more examples on it
then they also dont know about the x/4, coeficcient is 1/4 and x is unknowns!

then continue is teach them about like terms and unlike terms!
1st u should tell them and let them understand the difference of the like terms and unlike terms!
give example to show it out! xD..easier to see! xD
then continue for the additional and subtraction and all about the last chapter: integers
3x+6x=?
ans: 9x
let say last time when the students in primary school is using the fill in the blanks method
just like 1+_ =4
but now tell them u all up lvl and becoming pro..
so now u use 1+ x =4
is the same thing..
3x is mean by x+x+x!
so after that then we do exercise o! xD
but the things is their integers not very good! ^^

so about the form 2....
is continue about the chapter 6: pythogoras theorem
i thought them 6.1...
so now 6.2..is about how to determine issit a right angle, acute angle or obtuse..
then do exercise o! xD

form 3, WhAt to tEaCh ?

hey kawan kawan yang dikasihi...
i have designed a DRAFT but usable notes plus question for form 3, i think it's abit rush by judging on the content but the main thing i wanna emphasize is the questions.

i attached 4 topis inside which comprises of polygon, algebraic formulae, indices and solid geometry
AND THE MAIN THING IS these questions are all taken from SPM reference but under PMR session wan. it's abit high level, so it require some mentoring from ull to the students on the question. so HOW u mentor?

the books is specially designed for them, i din rate all the questions but i will provided full solution on the EXPIRED DATE. (for example my monday class i gave them a TARIKH LUPUT of may 8th)

i asked them to finish 60 % of the paper, because each chapter there are around 10 questions, and these saturday i will hold an extra class for those form 3 and i told them to come if they are free.

this post is dedicated to our very own Math department's "Russell Peters". He is also our PMR head, our friend, our heng dai, our ji mui. But he's better known by the name Yellowcursedoll Teng (should change it to Redcursedoll now :))

As we all know, Yellowcursedoll's birthday is fast approaching. Its on the 28th of April, which falls on this Wednesday woohoo!!

Yellowcursedoll is turning 21 this year. Some say its the most important birthday you'll ever have in your life (wait till he turns a hundred heheh). Therefore, we'll make this birthday wish just a tad more elaborate. :)

Attention SPM Maths punya lengzais!

We are starting revision for next week. According to KK dai gor, Part A is for Week1, Part B is for Week 2 and 3.

I plan to put in some ideas we got from today's meeting into the revision pack la. So:
1. Choose 2 question for each category: NOOB, NORMAL, EXPERT, GOD for each chapter. Form 4 one maybe can put 3 question for each topic la, since we covering 6 topics. (Some school Statistics is coming out...so yea...) Then form5 maybe I choose less question lo, since got 16 topics, later 16 x 8 oso 128 question dy. @.@

2. For each topic, label a deadline. If they finish all question for that topic before deadline, show to maths tutor (Like maybe the next week during class), then we give them reward or something la. This have to see how much budget we have lo. LJ gor, can?

3. Put a check list for them, like:
Chapter 1, 2, 3 (done)
Chapter 4, 5 (done)
.
..
...
....

Like we estimate one time how many question they can do so we split them into sessions. They arrange their time or something like that la.

4. Find some daibi jokes or nice pictures. Slot them in between pages. So when they revision do till sien dy suddenly got joke see then got semangat a bit.

So agak agak like that la. I will post here tmr see which topic I chosen for form5 so u all can prepare b4 class. xD

Do you know that this coming Thursday, which is the 22nd of April is our math pro Kai Boon's birthday? Don't know. Well, now you know. :)

Since we are all busy during the weekdays with classes and all, we have decided to celebrate Kai Boon's birthday on Sunday, which is the 25th of April. We hope that Kai Boon is not fully booked on Sunday. :)

Liang J is thinking...

hmm.. today im abit lost coz i think that after i go through the colour test's explaination i found that, my working style or mayb leading style shows a very huge opposition to you all...(i need suggestion from ull in making this team all-rounder.)

let me tell u all my teaching style and leading style, and i require every members to comment to the most deep from their heart opinion to me, so we could reach a very satisfied team and of course a happy team, who duwan a happy team but strict team right ?

To me, my brain always shows something call BIG PICTURE(what we known as holistic in the test), and i normally will think of one thing call student's feeling, coz to me, what they think about us is very important. (Y THIS CARE SUDDENLY APPEARs IN MY BRAIN'S DOOR or what we known as"another connected neuron", which is dun have since i was form one ?)
my existence in maths department since the first day equals to "teach and you will get paid", i really din thought of anything call CARE for ur students(all that are not within my work)... and my student which is (wai kin, joon geap, sy-men and wai theng) that gang end up stay with me, but the rest all gone, but i did realise of this CARE issue, only after one year i discovered that, THAT is the main problem...and they r form 2...im regret, deep in heart, i feel "cant describe"...they failed miserably which when i actually developed the CARE neuron in my mind.... i cried. Not becoz im worried about their parent's feeling on TTC's quality or they will blame me on the results, but the feeling of they still believe in you although they get low marks they believe in YOU... i cried...
because of the care, they are still with me, they wan me..but sorry that form 4 i cant help them, i need you all to make them a better person. Of course not the 4 of them, but every single students that registered as a maths student.

As a division leader, which i dun expect you all to treat me as one, coz im learning to be one, anyone can be in this post, we r just a bunch our crazy frens that are gaining student's trust on us,
i like the feeling of working as a group, although it feels very LAN YENG when SOLO XD (right? haha), as u go in your life, u will know the feeling of being in a group, it's really satisfying because the main thing is we have to gain our teammate trust to make them work as a team =)

in my eyes, i can see, maths dept has been consistently growing from a sesame to a little peanut which is full of nutrient, although they are small, but what we see is "potential growth", our peanut can be a very big rice ball that stick every rice(members) together as a team...
i can see our senior chin chung, playing a very good role in teaching and maintaining the students in old town and making him a very perfect guy.
i can see stephanie has been consistently playing a head of department role in pmr maths dept, she knows the syllabus, she knows how to build relation with the juniors.
Our, jian wen, has been thinking of different activities to make our dept lively.
kai boon, a perfectionist that make spm dept smooth, i really appreciate that we have a very consistent worker that keep spm alive, of coz i would love chin chung to contribute your ideas in identifying our maths dept's weakness, u are super blue right? haha =)
kok kin, has been a very dedicated worker that he actually work after he WORKED. Hmmm..i really salute, kok kin THANK YOU in ur involvement in the seminar notes, thank u.
yi shuian, another perfectionist in notes making, putting in his feeling in the notes as well, dedicated member and of coz i see his changes in personality, "they(senior that same age as me)" says that u r like MY last time(YOUNG LIANG J that looks introvert), i hope u can be more open-minded and brave in making your decision and of coz in being a more extrovert, as in looking, i can see your changes as well haha
lastly, our late member that came after NS, Mr. Kar yaw =), u r a very "ci xiang" guy haha, u r a all-rounder, but u have a weakness haha, when u face strangers, u will blush XD ture anot!!!

Thank you to ull, if there's chances lets go yam cha, we talk cock. talk cock, we gain solution from our unconscious thinking haha i believe in that as well haha

I hope that my yellow leading style will slowly replace by ur colour. =)

Hello jian wen here... in this starry starry night... me alone sitting infront of the computer... i come out something new... do you guys agree with we buy each of our student a file... and the file is for them to put in our notes and exercise... this can avoid student forgot to bring notes and the exercise... besides that i think that our notes should be straight to the point if best we can we make it a page... so can let student put at the front of the each plastic of the file... understand ma?? not understand i can further explain when we meet... just a suggestion not a decision dont worry.... xD

about the form 1 and 2 classes for mine on monday and tuesday

FORM 1 classes
This week i taught them about new chapter o
deng deng deng! is chapter 6: Integers
at first i told integers is a new chapter to you all
but no worries is all about whole numbers
and + - x / Is not about the decimals, fractions or percentage! =D
then start to tell them that integers is divide to two division: one is + - and one is x /
then told them dont need to see the x / 1st
we now concentrate on the + and - sin... ^^

then now in the + and - we have two division too
That is no bracket & bracket!
so now go for no branket 1st:
example: 2+3=
got two ways to solve the problem
one is using number line
&
another is straight solve..
for this i told them about to use the biggest number to minus the smallest to get the answer 1st..
but must remember that whenever small number minus big number will get negative!

then ok a d! go on for bracket!
2+(-3) =
i wrote that equation sin...
then i ask them know how to do a not..
then go on with tell them new formula
they are:

-(-)=+
+(-)=-
-(+)=-

okay, after showing that..someone will dont understand it..then nvm..
so i told them about the easier way to understand it..
now let say + is male and - female
+(+)=+ (male and male will gay)
-(-)=+ (female and female will lesbian)
+(-)=- (male and female will get marry)
-(+)=- (female and male will get marry)

+ is abnormal because
- let say is ur hair..it is horizontal hair but suddenly got a vertical hair so mai very abonormal lor

hahah..that how i teach..
then i keep let them do exercise on the ques
after done a question that they did correct they can play tick-tack-toe with me!

FORM 2 Classes
for the form 2 o...i also teach new chapter
that is chapter 6: pythagoras theorem
at first i told them about the pythagoras's history
he is a mathematician that last time he come out this theory(theoram)
to build a pyramid for his country!
therefore, this make pythagoras theoram..
so how u all know when only know that is using pythagoras theoram
i told them whenever u all see the triangle with a right angle triangle
then u can apply on this chapter..
so 1stly
i draw a right angle triangle out sin..
then ask them which one is the longest line in the triangle..
so mostly they will know that...
if dont know also nevermind..
told them is just opposite the right angle so that will be longest line in the triangle..
and told them it name call hypotenuse!

so now i introduce a new formula too them o: that is
2 2 2
a + b = c

so i use a=3 and b=4 is for the example and ask them find c is how much?

then so on i out one more example is ask them to find eithier a or b..

so u need u need:
2 2 2
c - b = a

2 2 2
c - a = b

then so on go for practise lar! xD

i taught them EASY for around 20 mins, so dun underestimate this EASY, EASY to do, HARD to explain.
remember to tell them to use HCF, and then follow by finding the repeated unknowns.!!!!!
then continue with wat u wanna teach lo...but the whole class i managed to finished until EASY part only.

page 80, question 20, 21, 22
page 81, 28, 29, 30
page 80, i recap "expansion" (a+b) (a-b) question 39 to 46 coz i wanna teach then page 83 (q2, 4, 5, 6)
then i recap fracational question as well...they just tend to forget all my teaching last week T.T. they just remember expansion...zadao..

CONGRATULATION

Congrats to chung KO,
OUR MATHS TOTAL AVERAGE IS THE second HIGHEST IN OLD TOWN =)
form 4 we are second, FORM 5 WE ARE FIRST haha
7.75 STUDENTS PER CLASS(march"average of form 4 and 5"), WHICH 2.25 FAVOURABLE as compare to our first meeting i setted a target with ull to hit at least 5.5.
(EXTRA: this amount is not accurate as one week our chung ko din take attendance haha)

i haven count gasing yet XD, i will update in a while! hehe

about form 1 & 2(karyaw's class)

1st of all I did help them revise about the last week that I taught them about the percentage
and remind them

the UNIVERSAL FORMULA: New price - Old price(difference in price)
____________________________ X 100 %
Old price (original price)

then this week before I gave them the exercise to do:
I asked them to have a look and know the formula for the five formula:
There are:
1. profit
2. discount
3. simple interest
4. dividend
5. commission

so I asked them one-by-one whether they understand for the 5 of them a not...
and almost all the class don't know for dividend and commission
so I did use examples to explain to them each..
for dividend:
as a example is...
now I am interest in KFC and invest to it
let say this month they earn 1mil of profit by selling chicken(as here I explain profit too) xD
and now let say this company have 7 boss include me..
so we all 7 together to divide the profit money we earn.. ^^

and now till the commission o
example:
now I am a promoter which help Nike work
let say my salary ONLY got RM 300
and now I sell one nike shoes I get RM 20 for each pairs I sold out
if this month I sold out 100 pairs so means I get RM2000 for my commision
so do you all understand now?

then we started to do the percentage exercise which have 10 ques..is quite hard de! xD
need use the 5 formula above!
THAT'S ALL FOR THAT! XD

form 2
1st of all is the same...revised for last week what i had taught
about the two quantities
after that, I continue for the ratios in three quantities...
so I told them is as easy as the last week you all learn
is just that this week got new friend coming in
means got 3 quantities
OK! lets say last week is about A:B but this week is about A:B:C
is just easy that your grandmother also know how to do*evil laugh* hahahahah xD
so continue and I remind them in ratio the quantities must be same only can take off
then also remind that even the ratio how much bigger or times how much..all must be the same
let says that is the ratio A:B=2:3
B:C=4:8
therefore you need to write out the 3 ratios, A:B:C
2:3 (so now u need to do is balance where
4:8 both sides also have no) there4 is B
_________ so 3 need to x4 and 4 need to x3
8 :12:24 so is balance now and now 8x3
2x4
so now u get 8:12:24
remember ratios need to get the lowest form...
so you get is by using the factors or 8, 12 and 24
use 4 to divide each and get 2:3:6
(TAKE NOTE: the simplify number must be a factor no for all of the number!)
and now is about the m:n:o = 2:3:4
and M+N+O= 900
so find M=? , N=?, O=?
  1. see the ques and understand it!
  2. so now u know that it want to find for each
  3. so did u see is M+N+O
  4. so u know that need use the ratio add together and find the average number
  5. total of ratio get 2+3+4= 9
  6. give unknown to represent your average number as long didnt same as ur ques
  7. so now 9x=900
  8. so ur average number get x=100
  9. so now u time one by one M=100x2=200
  10. N= 100x3=300
  11. O=100x4=400
  12. can u see that..total of that is still 900. ( to check ur answer)
and next one is about the minus for as same above that one..just change to minus..
the way to do is still the same o xD

AE part 2 (april 5th onwards)-expansion and factorisation

hey sengal-sengal, (form 3 tutors only)!
today i wanna teach ull my second part of AE...
teach them something call..factorisation and expansion...due to HUMAN ERROR, i estimated wrongly on the syllabus, SO, i planned to teach them 20 minutes teach them expansion rules and factoration rules...
but u have to teach them accordingly,
FIRST PART, teach them this thing...this thing ahh...only this thing!!



EXPANSION,1 (a+b)^2--> teach them how to open up (that expression first then only go to the example i show u later) and times remember, show it properly, they might get confused!!
how to teach, like this
**(x+2)(x+5)
=x(x+5)+2(x+5) <--can u see this thing, the x+5 is repeating =x(square) then u expand la! haha 2 (a-b)^2
3 (a+b)(a-b) = (a(square)-b(square)) <-- (remember if factorise, its not equal to (a-b)^2 )

expansion questions pls refer to page 80 (the geetha paper first page) do the right side part...must do with them the third expansion ya, the one the i BOLD and make it big wan.

if u have time, pls go into factorisation, where i teach them based on this levels... hehe
easy moderate hard



FACTORISATION
EASY
two steps--->HCF to pull out the biggest number among the number in the terms
--->pull out the repeated unknowns
u can try this type of question...
8x+32y=8(x+4y) ---> u can see that the HCF of 8 and 32 is 8 =)
5x^2 - 25xy = 5x(x+5y) ---> HCF is 5 then x repeated in two of the terms
...ETC try more

Moderate
example of moderate question are...
ay-az-by+bz = a(y-z)-b(y-z) ---> the main thing is seperate the 4 terms into 2 parts then each part u pull out the repeated unknowns BUT do u discover that the (y-z) is repeated (it must be the SAME!!) refer ** on top...it's similar haha
final answer = (a-b)(y-z)

ab+ac-b^2-bc = a(b+c)-b(b+c)
= (a-b)(b+c)
...etc

HARD
steps 1234 hahaha

S1 pick first term and the third term
s2 do factor for both first and third term
s3 cross multiply to check with the second term
s4 ANSWER is in front of u

meeting and TEST

9th April is our TTC general meeting ya! don't forget that, it starts at 7pm

bsides that, approach liang jie, coz he has sth to let u test....the COLOUR personality test, to test your colour type and determine our dept's effectiveness haha...but i think the whole thing quite truela,so remember do with liang jie ya...best before next wednesday!
