Probability Questions type

Yo yo its noobiak again! xP

I have categorize the questions for Form4 probability and Form 5 ones already!

Form4 got 4 types of questions

1st type: Find the possible outcome (inclusive of possible outcome of an event) This type of questions is asking students to write out sample space one.
Eg:
Throw a dice, a) list all possible outcomes b) list the possible outcomes if the outcome number is less than 4
a) {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}
b) {1, 2, 3}

2nd type: Find probability
Eg: 2 girls out of 10 are fat. If a girl is randomly chosen, find the probability that the girl is fat
Answer: 2/10 = 1/5

3rd type: Find possible times the event occur
Eg: 2 girls out of 10 are fat. How many fat girls are there in 1500 girls?
Answer: 2/10 x 1500 = 300

4th type: Using unknown type
A box contains 5 yellow marbles, 3 green marbles and some blue marbles. A marble is chosen at random from the box. The probability of choosing a green marble is 1/4. Find the probability of choosing a blue marble.

Number of blue marbles = n

3/(5+3+n)=1/4
3/(8+n) = 1/4 then cross multiply
8+n = 3(4)
n = 12 - 8
n = 4

Probability of getting blue marble = 4/12 = 1/3

So these are the four types. First three type kacang nia. 4th type is hard for weak students cause' most of the time they dunno how to use unknown. But generally form4 one is kacang to us.

Form 5 one....Die lo. We dun prepare go in class oso can fish fish xia de...
Type 1: Double set without interfering each other
Eg: Two bags contain six balls each. Each bag has 3 red balls, 2 white balls and 1 blue ball. One ball is picked from each bag. Find th probability that both balls are blue.
So we just use 1/6 X 1/6 = 1/36

Type 2: Double set without replacement
This is the one I say dun prepare can die one. paling kek sui.
Eg: A group of 10 boys and 8 girls are assigned to write a report. First day, 2 people are chosen to write the report. Find the probability that both pupils chosen are girls.
So we need to use 8/18 x 7/17 = 56/306 = 28/153
Cause after one girl is chosen, left only 17 girl to choose.

Type 3: Set related (intersect = and, union = or, complement = not) This one only involve ONE set.
Eg: A group 40 boys (take note only 1 group) plays badminton and tennis. 25 play badminton and 29 play tennis. Each boy plays at least one of the games. How many boys play both badminton AND tennis?
In total got 25 + 24 = 49. But actually there are only 40 boys. So 9 ppl must play two games. Therefore probability = 9/40

Type 4: Kacang putih type. Similar to those in Form 4 one. Usually in the form of a table.
Eg:
Result Boys Girls
Pass 110 35
Fail 10 5

A pupil is chosen randomly. Find the probability that the pupil fails the test.
So just 15/160 = 3/32 can dy.

For Form4, next week no need introduce them to different questions. Only let them do (If got time) some random questions. The 1st week of holiday only we introduce types of questions to them

For Form5, next week we do revision of Form4 (Cause it is the 1st subtopic of their Form 5 chapter) Then we tell them Form4 got 4 types of questions. They must master all before proceeding to form5, or else they can die kaokao. So we basically revise, then let them do questions. So Form5 need to photostat something.

For Form5, you write the 4 category on the board. Then every question you do with them, ask them which is the category. And use which way to solve. So they can master form4 before proceeding la. Form 4 you want photostat question then go ahead ba. If not you just prepare some example, as you go thru you write the question on board and ask them solve lo. You suka la.

PS: I actually took two books home to study the question type. And the 2 books are actually our favourite book. xD So in case you need to use questions from the book, I scanning them. Will attach to our mailbox tonight. So you print the questions before photostating la. Paiseh xP

Form4/5 new chapter notice

Most schools I know are either finishing their exam by the next two days, or either finished dy. Except for Assunta, which will only have their paper AFTER holiday. O_O (Means three weeks from now). So most likely we cannot accommodate with them lo.

So next week me and Kok Kin agree to go into Chapter 7. Form 4: Probability I and Form 5: Probability II. Probability, say easy, not easy. Say hard, not hard.

Cause this topic right, they only need to know
1. sample space (possible outcomes), and
2. probability (possible outcome for an event = sample space with given condition).

But problem is, the questions can vary A LOT. Similar questions may have different ways of doing it.

Example:
A bag containing cards with number 1 to 5. Ali has randomly picked a card, and then he places the card back into the bag, and pick again.
a) List all the possible outcomes.
b) Find the probability that both cards picked are odd numbers.

A bag containing cards with number 1 to 5. Ali has randomly picked two cards.
a) List all the possible outcomes.
b) Find the probability that both cards picked are odd numbers.

Students usually dunno how and use what way to solve. Cause the question macam the same. So we need to teach them how to identify types of questions. I am still finding out how many possible types of questions are there, most likely by tonight I will post again. So try check ba.

But now the problem is, what do we teach and how to teach next week, and during the 2 weeks holiday??? Be informed that during the two weeks holiday, all teaching is activity based, so have to prepare game. -_______- So I plan to stick with probability until end of holiday. I plan like,
week 1 (next week)
F4: do introduction,
F5: revision for form4 + identify form4 question type

week 2 (starting of holiday)
F4 identify types of questions with games.
F5: teach their topic with games

week 3 (2nd week of holiday)
F4: I dunno yet. xD
F5: Identify Form5 questions + Form4 questions with games.

So Form 4, next week
1. introduction to possible outcome and sample space
Eg:
Toss a coin, list possible outcome. {H, T}
Toss two coins, list possible outcome. {(H,H), (H,T), (T,H), (T,T)}
2. What is event (A given condition to find possible outcomes)
Eg:
Toss a dice, list all the possible outcomes if the side facing up is an even number
{2, 4, 6} out of {1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6}
So event = Subset of Sample Space (start crapping a bit about sets and pura-pura do revision for set a bit)
3. How to find probability (Introduce symbol P(A), where A is the event), and how to use probability to find expected number of times an event occur.
Eg:
Out of 10 girls, 2 are fat. If I have 360 girls, how many are fat?
Find probability = 2/10
Number of times event occur
= P(A) x 360
4. Give exercise.
Give different types of questions one, so they will like, "why everytime oso need to use different style to solve one". (But Form4 one quite shallow la, not as hard like the example of pick two cards above one) Then we say, next week, we will tell you how many types of questions that will come out. And next week is game based, so you want to master how to solve, then come. And this topic is important, cause' if you dunno this topic, Form 5 we got probability 2, then ur basic not good, Form5 very cham. Something like that la. xD

Here need to remind them to write full statement in Paper 2. Like how many are fat right, they have to write "Expected number of fat girls = P(A) x 360" like that.

That is for Form 4 la. Basically that covers the whole chapter.

Form5:
1. Revision for Form 4. (Do exactly what you will do for Form 4 class, except that you make it shorter)
2. Introduce the types of questions and let them do the same type for a few times, then proceed to next type until they recognize the way to solve.

That will eat up all the time for Form5. So for types of questions, please check blog again tonight! Thanks.

Maths department during SUMMER

This Summer~ June to July
maths department will consider as short of tutor bah, coz most of the senior have exams during this sizzling hot period.
Chin chung and Steph will be away for one month, as for me, i will be N/A for one week. hope Ull "jian liang" XD

i had approach few available members which will be very bz during this summer and thanks for their supportive help when i request for help, seriously deep in heart, thanks in advance although the class havent confirmed with ull and allocate to ull. i will act fast in the class allocation process.

the active member will be Yi Shiuan, Kok Kin, Kai Boon(havent approach u"i will contact u asap =)"), and Kar Yaw (depends on your time table). As for our dearest Jian wen, he will be available around mid of June and he will also help us during this SUMMER =)

the classes that need replacement are as follows: (from next monday May 31st till June 26th)
  1. monday Chin chung (old town class, afternoon, form 4 and 5)
  2. tuesday Liang Jie (gasing, afternoon, form 3)
  3. wednesday Chin chung (gasing, afternoon, form 4 and 5)
  4. thursday Stephanie (old town, morning, form 1 & 2)
  5. thursday Stephanie (gasing, afternoon, form 3)
  6. friday Liang Jie (old town, afternoon, form 3)
  7. and for ur information, Liang Jie will off to Langkawi for 3 days during end of July and i will need some of ur help if there is clashes of time during those days. thanks!
  8. Steph and CC, if i missed out some classes here please let me know ya!
these are the classes that i will contact the active members during this summer.

p/s : Kai boon, i remember u told me u will have exam during this end of june right ? contact me when u see this. =)

Stephanie Ng

happy birthday to our most gorgeous and beautiful maths ONLY girl tutor, miss Stephanie NG.
lets start my essay here...
Today is a good day, today is stephanie ng's birthday, today she wear a yellow shoe with a black girl's sock and jeans again of coz and standing tall like herself.

stephanie is a girl. she is a nice girl like what everybody say. she likes to laugh and she likes to eat hot foods, especially chili paddy with kicap. she is a responsible head of department that reports what she did and of coz she treats her juniors well (ini saya tak tau la, junior men will know gua haha XD)

lets talk about her bad side as well, she always thinks that she cant do or achieve something, but actually from 3rd party point of view, we believe she can do it. That's all for her BAD side. haha
hence, harap dia boleh berusaha banyak banyak, do more more past year paper, bersembang banyak banyak dengan we all, work hard hard in her exam, our hope is all in ur hand Miss Stephanie. NI SHI ZUI HAO DE NI ZHI DAO MA!!! hugs from ttc shiong shiong ha ha dek yan (up up down down de people), to give u all the aura to study hard hard and kuat kuat.

p/s (not paiseh, is postscript =.="): do KDK (noobiak knows what is this XD) when u are stress, and saya bo0leh bantu if u need help in t10. kar yaw lo!!

SPM What to teach?

Now we have a big problem...Form4 Catholic finish paper today, but Sultan Abdul Samad next week, La Salle I dunno yet.

Form5 Catholic finish last thursday, but Assunta only start after holiday. -____________-

If we go into new chapter, most probably other school wont pay much attention and they will prefer we give them revision. But give revision CHS one will sien till die cause they finished exam.

What I suggest is...Form4 we teach statistics revision, let them plot graph. so those want revision for exam one, let them do their own revision and ask us anything if they dunno, and CHS one let them plot graph (cause can eat a lot of time ma...)

For Form5 I think need to go in new chapter lo. Area under the graph already did one revision liao. X_X But we dont go in chapter 7, cause chapter 7 is probability II, got a lot of things need to explain, sked other school ones cannot pay attention. We let them do the last chapter, chapter 10 Plans & Elevations, cause that one just need to learn the skills of drawing them, and can eat a lot of time. So the students who want to do revision will not miss out much also.

there seems to be a trend in math department these couple of weeks. first kai boon was sick > then liang jie > now kok kin > who's next?? :S be careful weyh.

tapi don't worry, minum banyak-banyak air, tidur lama-lama, makan cukup-cukup, study *semart-semart* dan main gila-gila, then you should be okayy.

Form 3...

Liang j is very de tired...he actually slept on ttc sofa...can u imagine that~
i use question 888 to settle their next revision.
i use question from all the topics and i ask them to follow my instruction and all the topics i pick 2 to 4 question (depends on the hard_ness os the question), if hard enough i pick 2 question, if easy then i use 4 question lo...

the topics are :

indices form 3 pg 34
algebraic fraction form 3 pg 37
LASTly i went into ratio which is in on pg 27, 28

other topic that haven cover will be done next class.

wayrak is here and said virus transferred and about this week what i have teach o!

anyway, this week for form 1 and 2 is revising for them..
for the form 1, i told them and explain to them about the revision pack!
at 1st told them we do revision pack for them is because we this time doesn't have extra class with u guys so we did out the revision pack
then explain the whole revision pack to them
i told them i will make all the notes in a page so u all can do a references before go for the test!
okay, till the practices... we got pass with blue black colour and pass with flying colours too.
for sure they dont know what is blue black colour but some of them will know pass with flying colours..
so explain to them lor! xD
haha..
pass with blue black colours is mean by that u see ur report card,
is either got blue black or red in the report card..
so if u do the blue black report card, u get pass o!
but if u do the pass with flying colours u will get As!
xD
for them in form 1 there got 10 ques in blue black colour ques!
so i ask them to do 5 above then okay a d!
for pass with flying colours..i asked them to do all..
so together is around 10 ques per chapter!
so i did told them to show their working beside there cause i left spaces and blanks to them!
and i got told them the notes will be more pic and jokes to keep them relax and when boring can have a look..
by right, there are some IQ question too!
paiseh got one IQ test no give till answer..
is the apa yang di dalam ikan, di luar ialah ayam?
ans: ayam brand punya ikan sardin lor! xD

so for the form 2 is still the same lar..

sudah lama tak update

hey members, im going to buy pendrive this monday, 8GB pendrive which worth rm25 and the other will be sponsor by maths dept, yay!!
who is in? i need to confirm with the number of buyers and monday we might need to mafan yi shiuan koko to buy it haha...

form 3

form 3 right, the revision pack is actually equivalent to "extra class", i told them, this pack comprises of 10 question for each chapter, so ask them to at least try out 5 question each chapter to refresh their memory on the chapter, this week i actually use the last revision pack, and remind them on this topic (polygon), where they will know wat is the keyword of tackling the question.
for instance, when there is the word REGULAR "something(polygon)", means u have to have to have to have to use 180(n-2) divide by n, to get your interior angle...when there is not, so means u have to use 180(n-2) to allow u to get SUM OF INTERIOR!

next, by using the last revision pack, i use the last chapter in the pack to teach my chapter 8, which is chapter 8.fuck<--typed by u tian
but before entering chapter 8, i ask them few question...do you know how to derive your (SURFACE AREA FOR) cylinder and cone ????
then i start teaching them this 2 formula, but it takes my good 40 mins to finish the 2 formula...coz the main thing is, i wan them to "learn" the skill of understanding, they need understanding skill to learn the following chapter whihch is scale drawings and transformation...of coz trigonometry...im abit worry on certian that study by repitation...worry about their form 4 and 5 which require UNDERSTANDING SKILLS..
(dun understand this part ask liang jie =)

i did share another thing call, how to use this revision pack. (applicable to form 1 and 2 as well)
first, this pack = to extra class at home
second = do this u will improve in your exam, i bet !
third = give them your number and allow them to spam u, i believe they wont, but if yes then...try to help them coz they make an effort to call, then we make an effort to service them as well...but not come out and yam cha la XD
fourth = i believe ull have your own creative ideas to make them do, i believe u can ask stephanie on this..my student din hang in my homework one, but stephanie jie jie managed to make her student hang up...wt...geng siao

for form 1..
i did revision for the chapter 7 o xD
next week only start the revision pack! xD

for form 2..
is a new chapter..is chapter 7: geometrical construction
i didnt do practise with them..
because last week i forget to ask them bring..
so this week i just teach them how to draw it out..
there are 6 things we going to learn
1. straight line
2. three line segments(triangle)
3. perpendicular
4. 60 degree
5. 120 degree
6. parallel lines..

just follow the notes teach o
before start just tell them start from this week need to bring the geometrical sets
and told them protractor is not allow to use to draw the degrees! must know
then go on with the notes! xD

Eh shall we make the revision pack 1 week by 1 week? cause i sked right, if make 2 weeks in 1 pack, they wont come for the revision class since they get the revision material dy. so how? the coming one we make 2 in 1 or 1 by 1?
